Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 02/14/2019
Receipts: 5850 Last Week: 977 Year Ago: 0
Too few cattle last week to compare to today's large offering and
develop an accurate trend. Today's large offering consisted of
many packages, loads, and strings of mostly homeraised,
preconditioned cattle in varied flesh. Good to very good demand seen
for calves suited for summer grass programs. Moderate to good
demand for calves suited for finishing programs. A moderate to active
market for today's offering. High winds today created blizzard
like conditions and made travel difficult. A few cancellations today
but most of the cattle came in yesterday when travel conditions were
better. Very cold temperatures continue to plague the area and,
along with regular snow and wind, are making life very difficult
for both livestock and their caretakers. Below normal
temperatures are forcasted thru the end of the month and into March.
Steers made up 61 percent of the feeders, heifers 39 percent, 85
percent over 600 lbs. Next feeder cattle sale is next Thursday,
February 21.
