PECANS PRICES PAID TO GROWERS

TEXAS (Central, South, Eastern Areas) 


Deliveries by growers to delivery points of Improved varieties were fairly 
light. Demand was good for good quality pecans. Natives are currently being 
harvested.  Harvesting is expected to remain about steady during the 
upcoming week. 

The weather forecast for the coming week calls for low temperatures from the 
low 30s to upper 50s, with high temperatures from the mid-40s to the mid-
70s. There is a 20-100 percent chance of precipitation on Wednesday, January 
22, a 20-50 percent chance of precipitation on Sunday, January 26, and a 0-
20 percent chance of precipitation the rest of the week.

Buying interest displayed by end users was moderate for commercial sheller 
use as shellers continue to utilize inventories on hand or make purchases 
from other production areas or wait for additional availability of nuts. 
Trading was fairly active for in-shell and gift pack uses. Many growers are 
deferring making marketing decisions, opting instead to concentrate on 
harvesting and storing nuts for later sale. The pecan season in Texas is 
starting to wind down, as some growers are finishing for the season.  

Prices paid to growers (from noon Tuesday, January 14, 2020 through noon 
Tuesday, January 21, 2020) at buyers delivery points or F.O.B. the orchard 
including direct sales to end users, cents per pound in-shell of generally 
good quality in lots of 20,000 pounds or less unless otherwise stated.
