     South America Dairy Market Overview

     Report 33 - Released on August 15, 2019

     Farm milk production in the Southern Cone region of South America has improved lately,
     principally because cooler temperatures have increased productive yields of dairy herds. On
     the other hand, in a few dairy basins of Argentina, wintry temperatures and poor-quality
     winter pastures, continue hampering milk output. However, in general, milk volumes are more
     than enough  to cover most manufacturing needs within the Southern Cone region and the
     continent. Across the continent, demand for bottled milk/UHT is robust as most educational
     institutions are filling pipelines, while retailers are restocking shelves. The trade
     agreement between the EU bloc and the Mercosur bloc continues to be a topic of discussion
     among participants in the dairy industry. However, it is not yet known with certainty what
     possible economic impact it will have on farmers and the dairy industry in general.
