MD_DA650 Nonfat Dry Milk - Eastern and Central U.S. Report 39 - Released on September 29, 2022 Central: The bottom of the price range shored up two cents, while the rest of the price range and mostly series held steady for low/medium heat nonfat dry milk (NDM) this week. Trading activity was somewhat active throughout both regions, but Midwestern trading was steady if not slower this week. Milk availability for processing has started to become a potential question. Fewer plants are operating at capacity outside of bottlers, and condensed skim availability has started to tighten somewhat in recent weeks. Mexican demand continues to support price points, as Mexico's northern states remain in long-term drought conditions. High heat NDM prices moved up on the lower end of the range. High heat trading activity was quietly steady. NDM market tones are steadier in recent weeks. East: Eastern low/medium heat nonfat dry milk (NDM) trading activity picked up after weeks of quietness. In fact, in a rare occurrence, reported spot loads traded in the East matched those traded in the Central region. End users are a little less hesitant to add on an extra load or two at the end of the year because some see a steadier, and possibly a strengthening, market. Others say there are still concerns as Q4 approaches that supply may overtake demand. All said, market tones are uncertain. High heat NDM prices edged higher on the bottom of the range on light trading.
