Both acid and rennet casein prices strengthened this week. Casein traders had expected firming prices. Many believe prices will continue increasing in coming weeks. Milk production in a primary producing country, New Zealand, continues a seasonal decline. Moreover, there is competition for milk from other dairy powders. Buyers with unmet future needs are motivated to close deals when they can. Little spot casein is available from manufacturers.
