     Casein - National Casein Report for U.S. Imports

     Report 4 - Released on January 23, 2020

     The casein price steamroller keeps rolling upward. Both acid and rennet casein prices
     strengthened this week. Casein traders had expected firming prices. Many believe prices will
     continue increasing in coming weeks. Milk production in a primary producing country, New
     Zealand, continues a seasonal decline. Moreover, there is competition for milk from other
     dairy powders. Buyers with unmet future needs are motivated to close deals when they can.
     Little spot casein is available from manufacturers.
     Prices for: Spot Sales And Up to 3 Month Contracts, Free on Board - Warehouse, Non-
     Restricted, All Mesh Sizes, Conventional, and Edible Casein

     Acid; Price Range - $/LB:                    3.6000-3.8050
     Rennet; Price Range - $/LB:                  4.2075-4.3250

     Casein exports from Ireland January – November 2019, increased 17.8 percent according to
     CLAL data provided to USDA.

     U.S. casein imports January - November 2019, 44,000 MT, increased 6.9 percent from January
     - November 2018. The three primary sources, percent change January - November 2019/2018,
     and quantity, are shown in the following table.

     At GDT event 252 on January 21, 2019, the rennet casein all contracts price, $4.2525,
