MD_DA136 Skim Milk Powder - South America Report 29 - Released on July 18, 2019 In the Southern Cone of South America, skim milk powder (SMP) export prices are mixed on a wider range. Sporadic SMP export activity from Argentina/Uruguay to Algeria pushed down the bottom price of the range, while light to moderate sales to Brazil pulled up the top. Skim milk volumes moving into dryers are restricted mainly because most processors are focusing on converting milk volumes into WMP. Consequently, SMP inventories remain tight in most balancing plants. At this point, the market undertone is unsettled. Prices for: South America, All First Sales, Free on Board - Port, Conventional, and Edible Skim Milk Powder Price Range - 1.25% Butterfat; $/MT: 2,250 - 2,550 Information for the period July 8 - 19, 2019, issued biweekly Secondary Sourced Information: At the GDT Event 240 on July 16, skim milk powder (SMP) prices across all contract periods averaged $2,505 per metric ton, up 3.8 percent from the last event.
