DC_GR310 Manhattan, KS Tue February 26, 2019 Kansas Department of Agriculture Kansas Hay Market Report Ground/Grinding alfalfa movement: Southwest/South Central Tonnage: 10,832/4,370 Last week: 10,955/5,387 Last year: 10,364/4,724 Hay market trade activity is light to moderate. Demand remains moderate to good as supplies are generally light. Prices, however, remained steady for all hay types. Mother Nature continues to tease us with the illusion that spring is on its way, only to throw a blizzard at us once again. Areas in western and central Kansas are reporting 3 to 11 inches of new snow. Although the eastern side of the state was spared the snow, most received rain adding to the already muddy roads, feed lots and fields. Inquires continue to come in daily, however folks are hesitant to relinquish any extra hay until they feel we are closer to green up. If you have any extra hay to sell and/or need hay here in Kansas, use the services of the Internet Hay Exchange: www.hayexchange.com/ks.php.
