MD_DA340 Buttermilk - Western U.S. Report 44 - Released on October 31, 2019 Free on board (F.O.B.) spot prices for western dry buttermilk are mostly higher on slow trading. The cash market remains on a bullish status as the present dry buttermilk supply is still below buyers’ immediate needs. This week, most sales have been driven by Q4 contractual needs. The interest from dressing processors, bakers, and dry mix makers is reported as strong. Dry buttermilk production is limited in several balancing plants as pulls from some butterfat-based dairy product manufacturers continue diverting condensed buttermilk volumes outside the dryers. Accordingly, dry buttermilk inventories are becoming less available in the spot market.
