     Buttermilk - Western U.S.

     Western dry buttermilk free on board spot prices are mostly higher on light trading. The
     market tone remains firm, partly backed by strong seasonal needs for butterfat. Dry
     buttermilk requests from bakers, ice cream, and dry mix manufacturers are active ahead of
     the upcoming year-end holiday needs. However, the current supply of dry buttermilk is
     limited as condensed buttermilk drying schedules are sporadic in most regional balancing
     plants. Nevertheless, dry buttermilk inventories are expected to increase very soon as most
     balancing plants will run at full capacity during the upcoming November holidays.
