MD_DA340 Buttermilk - Western U.S. Report 25 - Released on June 20, 2019 Dry buttermilk processing schedules remain intermittent, following seasonal patterns. A good portion of condensed buttermilk is channeling to the making of ice cream, leaving little volumes for drying. Additionally, nonfat dry milk production is preferred over dry buttermilk. Dry buttermilk spot prices have remained at the same ranges as in the previous week. Lower availability throughout the West is in favor of current strong prices. Sales of dry buttermilk are mainly based on contracts, but a few loads continue to channel to buyers through the spot market.
