Grid dressed sales are 1.00-4.00 lower at 192.00. Flat dressed sales are not tested with last week but trading 4.00-5.00 lower from two weeks ago at 190.00- 191.00. Fed cattle prices this week continue to struggle in the feedlot trade but also on the board, as the market remains in a bearish mode. Trade occurred on Tuesday with the packers not willing to pay more than 120.00, after the CME cattle futures closed on Tuesday. The February contract closed Tuesday at 119.07 and the April at 117.17 with trade at 119.00-120.00 mostly 2.00 lower than last week. On Wednesday trade continued at 118.00-119.00. Thursday Choice closed .14 cents higher at 206.45 with Select 1.51 lower at 203.79, with Choice-Select spread of 2.66 compared to last Friday’s close with Choice at 210.12 and Select at 203.89. The hide and offal value from a typical slaughter steer on Thursday was estimated at 9.04 per cwt live, unchanged when compared to Wednesday’s value.
