JC_LS135 Jefferson City, MO Fri Jan 03, 2020 MO Dept of Ag-USDA Market News Missouri Weekly Direct Slaughter Cattle (week end 01-03-2020) Confirmed Sales: Week to date: 440 Last week: No Sales Last Year: 360 These prices acquired from Missouri producers ) Trading from late last Friday through Friday morning of this week remains light with flat dressed sales 3.00-5.00 higher at 198.00-200.00. Fed cattle prices ended the year on a high note with last week’s higher cash trade. Packers were aggressive buyers late last week and have many believing this week’s cash trade will also see increases as cash continues to grind higher. Recent snowstorm in Nebraska and South Dakota has left feedlots in those areas very muddy and in sloppy conditions. Boxed-beef values continue to see pressure which will have packer margins deteriorating, but supplies seem to indicate that packers will remain aggressive to own cattle. Thursday Choice closed 1.17 lower at 208.25 with Select .51 cents lower at 202.63, compared to last Friday’s close with Choice at 208.96 and Select at 204.57.
