The track records are comprised of National level statistics for the principal livestock commodities in the NASS commodity estimation program. The following data, as applicable, are presented for each of the livestock items: * Comparisons of preliminary and final inventory estimates. * Comparisons of preliminary and final production estimates. * Commodity estimates are not considered final until the historical revision process is complete. The estimating program for livestock measures several major categories: inventory, value of inventory, breeding intentions, and production. Livestock, dairy, and poultry estimates are based largely on probability surveys. However, near-total counts are made for some items and administrative data is used whenever possible. Data are collected through mail surveys as well as face-to-face and telephone interviews.
