MD_DA350 Buttermilk - Eastern and Central U.S. Report 4 - Released on January 23, 2020 CENTRAL: Dry buttermilk prices increased on the top of the range on steady Central region trading. Buyers remain active after the holidays and inventories are somewhat balanced. That said, churning is very active with readily available cream supplies, so there are some signs of higher dry buttermilk load availability to come. Condensed buttermilk drying is still feasible, but as nonfat dry milk markets continue to trend bullishly, most buttermilk drying will be to keep contracts filled. All said, buttermilk markets are firm. Most of the prices in the region posted toward the upper end of the current range. EAST: Dry buttermilk spot prices inched higher at the top of the range currently. Although cream is available and butter production is fairly active, dry buttermilk supplies are tight in the region. Most supplies are clearing to contracted needs. Some buyers are purchasing less than loads to suit their immediate requests. Market conditions are healthy.
