MD_DA230 Fluid Milk and Cream - Central U.S. Report 47 - Released on November 22, 2022 Milk availability is growing for processing in the region during the shortened holiday week for a number of bottling/processing plants in the Midwestern theater. Some blustery weather conditions in the upper Midwest may have affected upcoming milk availability, slightly, but recent growth in milk availability is being reported during the holiday week. Class I demand edged slower, while some cheesemakers took advantage of heavier discounts throughout this week and into next week. Spot milk prices were reported as low as $4.50 under Class III. Butter plant managers are also reporting heartier availability during the holiday week. Some last week expected cream availability to maintain steadiness for the holiday week, but more have reported regionally sourced cream at below 1.20 for the second week in a row. They also say near-term cream outlooks are not expected to change until possibly early 2023. Ice cream processing has clearly slowed, seasonally.
