KO_GR310 OKLAHOMA HAY MARKET REPORT OKLAHOMA CITY, OK Thu Oct 31, 2019 Oklahoma Dept. of Ag Market News Alfalfa and hay trade remain exceedingly limited. Winter weather advisories mixed with rain and sleet haven't helped with the light movement. Cattle prices continue to add to low demand with reports of selling a dozen calves just to pay for the higher hay prices. The few sales that have occurred are mostly steady. Premium quality hay very difficult to find and the horse quality hay that is available isn't in high demand as of now. The few producers that are still haying are on third cutting of Bermudagrass and 6th to 7th cutting of alfalfa with not much optimism for quality due to rainfall mostly. Reports of some livestock owners having substantial grass and hay inventories where others have used up pasture grazing but looking for lower quality hay to get through the cold snap. Market News continues to maintain an online hay directory for both in- state and out-of-state hay producers. The directories are on the ODAFF homepage at www.oda.state.ok.us. Producers wishing to list hay are encouraged to call at 1-405-521-3864 or email OklahomaCity.LPGMN@usda.gov. Alfalfa Central Oklahoma: Fair to good quality 170.00 per ton FOB.
