St. Joseph, Stockyards Sheep and Goat Auction Report for 1/10/2019

Receipts:  1158    Last Month:  1189    Last Year:  708

   Compared to last month, light slaughter lambs sold sharply higher with lambs over 
100 lbs 20.00-25.00 higher.  Non-traditional lambs sold 25.00 to 45.00 higher. 
Feeder lambs 25.00-50.00 higher.  Slaughter ewes sold mostly steady while bucks sold
15.00 higher on a light test. Market kid goats under 70 lbs sold 40.00 to 55.00 
higher; while those over 70 lbs were 15.00 to 20.00 higher.  Slaughter nannies traded 
10.00-20.00 higher, while slaughter billies traded mostly steady. Trade moderate to 
active, demand good to very good.  Supply included near 52 percent sheep and 48 
percent goats. The sheep supply included near 77 percent slaughter lambs, 12 percent 
feeder lambs, and 9 percent slaughter ewes, and the balance slaughter bucks.  Prices 
quoted per cwt unless otherwise noted.  Note:  The Sheep and Goat Auction is held the 
2nd Thursday of each month, start time is at 3:00 p.m. starting with the January 10, 
2019 sale.

   Slaughter Lambs:  Choice, few Prime 2-3 60-70 lbs 240.00-255.00; 70-80 lbs 185.00-
210.00;90-100 lbs 145.00-152.50; 100-140 lbs 135.00-142.50, pkg 103 lbs 155.00. Good 
to Choice 2-3 70-80 lbs pkg 165.00; 100-140 lbs 120.00-135.00. Non-Traditional 50-60 
lbs 230.00-265.00; 60-70 lbs 225.00-255.00; 70-80 lbs 200.00-220.00; 80-90 lbs 
155.00-175.00, pkg 82 lbs 210.00; 90-100 lbs pkg 155.00. 

   Feeder Lambs:  Medium and Large 1  35-50 lbs 250.00-275.00, pkg 48 lbs 280.00. 

   Slaughter Ewes:  Good 2-4   105-195 lbs 65.00-80.00, few hair ewes up to 97.50; 

   Slaughter Bucks:  175-265 lbs 82.50-100.00, few hair bucks 125-200 lbs 97.50-
102.50.
