St. Joseph, Stockyards Sheep and Goat Auction Report for 11/08/2018

Receipts:  1189    Last Month:  1798    Last Year:  1701

   Compared to last month, slaughter lambs sold steady to 5.00 higher on 
comparable sales.  Non-traditional lambs sold 25.00 to 50.00 higher.  Feeder 
lambs 50.00 higher.  Slaughter ewes sold 15.00 to 20.00 higher while bucks sold
10.00 higher.  Market kid goats under 70 lbs sold 40.00 to 55.00 higher; while
those over 70 lbs were 5.00 to 10.00 higher.  Slaughter nannies traded steady
to 5.00 higher, while slaughter billies sold 25.00 to 30.00 higher.  Trade
moderate to active, demand good to very good.  Supply included near 50 percent
sheep and 50 percent goats.  The sheep supply included near 73 percent slaughter 
lambs, 7 percent feeder lambs, and 16 percent slaughter ewes, and the balance 
slaughter bucks.  Prices quoted per cwt unless otherwise noted.  Note:  The
Sheep and Goat Auction is held the 2nd Thursday of each month, start time is at
3:00 p.m. starting with the January 10, 2019 sale.

   Slaughter Lambs:  Choice, few Prime 2-3 100-143 lbs 110.00-125.00.  Good to 
Choice 2-3 140-188 lbs 100.00-107.50.  Non-Traditional 50-60 lbs 225.00-257.50; 
60-70 lbs 200.00-237.50; 70-80 lbs 147.50-185.00, outstanding individuals 190.00-
205.00; 80-90 lbs 140.00-160.00; 90-100 lbs 120.00-145.00. 

   Feeder Lambs:  Medium and Large 1  35-50 lbs 200.00-257.50. 

   Slaughter Ewes:  Good 2-4   95-205 lbs 65.00-80.00; Utility 1-3 115-200 lbs 
50.00-67.50; Utility 1  100-190 lbs 40.00-45.00

   Slaughter Bucks:  120-285 lbs 65.00-85.00.
