     Skim Milk Powder - Oceania

     Skim milk powder prices in Oceania are up. The market is firming. Current prices look pretty
     good compared with the Dairy Market News monthly averages throughout 2019, ranging from
     $2,403 to $3,023.

     Stocks are tighter. Production is moving seasonally lower. Most regular customers are
     contracted ahead. Current spot markets have limited stocks to meet demand from buyers who
     did not expect how tight it would be, as well as some regular buyers who suddenly want more.
     Some buyers who had been hoping to stock up in Western Europe, where prices are generally
     lower than Oceania, struck out there and are adding to the clamor to take deliveries from
     Oceania.

     At GDT event 251 on January 7, the SMP all contracts price, $3,026, increased 5.4 percent.
     The February contract, $3,295, increased 11.7 percent.

     SMP exports from Australia January – November 2019 are 17.1 percent lower than the same
     period of 2018, according to CLAL data made available to USDA. SMP imports increased 14.8
     percent.
