MD_DA431 Butter - Central U.S. Report 16 - Released on April 21, 2021 Since roughly the ides of March, food service sales have incrementally shifted higher week after week. This week, butter plant contacts are saying sales were somewhat subdued. Some of those contacts question whether some of those once depleted pipelines have begun to fill up. Churning is busy in the Central region. There is another shift in direction this week, but this is in regards to cream availability. Butter plant managers relay finding cream in multiples at/around the low/mid 1.20s, again. Some plants undergoing scheduled maintenance in the Midwest and Eastern regions have begun to create more availability for continually running plants. Bulk butter buyers are still actively looking, but the focus remains on the unsalted, 82 percent variety. Butter market tones are wavering early in the week.
