MD_DA431 Butter - Central U.S. Report 3 - Released on January 15, 2020 Butter churning continues apace, as cream supplies remain plentiful. There was a slight downward shift in cream availability, but by no means are butter producers concerned about shortages in the near term. They expect at least two more weeks (or more) of easily- accessible cream stores. Butter sales are slower, but meeting seasonal expectations following the holiday rush. As was mentioned, churning is active due to both the current cream supply and the potential spring holiday push. Butter markets are pushing up towards the $2 mark after a surge Tuesday. Market contacts still suggest the range-bound status of butter prices is not in jeopardy. Now, though, the range has just been adjusted lower than the $2+ ranges set in 2018 and 2019.
