MD_DA770 Lactose - Central and Western U.S. Report 33 - Released on August 18, 2022 As a few spot loads cleared the market, the bottom of the price range returned to what it was two weeks ago. The top of the price range and both ends of the mostly price series remained unchanged. The market tone for lactose is stable. Manufacturers say the lack of containers that has made shipping difficult since the beginning of the year has eased somewhat. Loads are getting moved and they can catch up on a few shipments. While inventories are still heavy, processors are not overly concerned. Much of the stockpile is spoken for. And although current demand is lackluster, the improvement in shipping logistics has taken some pressure off warehouse space. A few industry contacts report hearing more offers. Lactose production is steady to lower.
