MD_DA770 Lactose - Central and Western U.S. Report 34 - Released on August 22, 2019 Lactose producers have begun to look for different Q4 export partners, as some Asian buyers continue to face numerous hurdles in obtaining affordable loads. Lactose spot trading was somewhat busy, but the price range and mostly price series remain static. Market sentiment is mostly bearish, but some producers/contacts, particularly those who make specific varieties of lactose, suggest buyers remain interested. They say higher mesh and infant formula-grade lactose loads are still sought after, even from Asian based buyers who are willing to pay extra for the specialized production. Lactose that is more interchangeable, however, is facing continued downward pressure. There are reports of feed grade trades in the single-digits, and some food-grade potentially moving into the mid-teens.
