MD_DA530 Dry Whey - Central U.S. Report 52 - Released on December 27, 2018 Dry whey prices are unchanged on an expectedly slow week. Following some market firmness last week, contacts are awaiting what Q1 will bring. Production has picked up as holiday- priced milk loads are flowing into Class III facilities in the Midwest at larger discounts. Inventories were fairly light until earlier in the month, when offers started to increase. That said, regional contacts until last week were finding deals from Western manufacturers. Currently, however, some buyers suggest regionally dried whey may be matching or besting offers from the West. Whey markets are expectedly quiet, but contacts' outlooks are mixed from steady to bullish for early 2019.
