MD_DA530 Dry Whey - Central U.S. Report 6 - Released on February 06, 2020 The dry whey price range narrowed slightly on both the top and bottom of the range, while the bottom of the mostly series shifted slightly higher. Dry whey trading activity was moderate, possibly a bit busier week to week. Offers have noticeably increased, while a number of end-user contacts suggest they are not interested as they are sufficiently stocked, for now. There were a number of less-than-load trades in the higher protein markets, but prices vary widely and are based on differing LTL amounts. Whey production is undoubtedly busier, with spot milk trading exclusively at discounts this week. Animal feed whey trading was moderate, as well, as the already tight price range narrowed again. Overall, dry whey market tones are steady. There was some bearish sentiment in other dairy powders this week, but dry whey and the whey complex still have a bit of the rebound momentum for the near term. Q2 expectations are mostly positive according to brokers. The DMN monthly average of the mostly price series for Central dry whey during January was $0.3471, compared to $0.3412 in December.
