MD_DA811 Cheese - Foreign Type Report 48 - Released on November 28, 2018 In Germany, demand for sliced cheese is persistently high. Orders for the holiday have already started to pick up. Export sales to other European Union (EU) countries remain at normal levels for the season, while demand from countries other than the EU is improving. Cheese production is even compared to the prior week. Inventories are not enough to meet the needs of everyone in the industry. In addition, processors do not foresee any major changes to the stocks¶ levels until the next holiday. This is mainly due to dairy farmers¶ inability to increase current milk output. In the past weeks, milk production has been mostly stable to decreasing. Cheese price trends are currently even. In the U.S., the prices for wholesale blue, gorgonzola, parmesan, and Romano decreased by $0.0350; however, all other prices are steady compared to last week.
