MD_DA811 Cheese - Foreign Type Report 49 - Released on December 04, 2018 In the European Union, the cheese market tone is stable. Cheese production is steady, following a similar trend to farm milk output. Cheese demand is active due to the approaching end of the year holidays. With increasing cheese sales, manufacturers¶ supplies remain limited. In the domestic market, sliced cheese is available because many of the sale channels place early cheese orders to ensure that they won¶t run out of stocks. The food retail sector sales are growing as additional inquiries come in. Demand from the export market is outgoing, enhanced by the favorable euro exchange rate compared to the U.S. dollar and a reduction in cheese prices. Contacts notice a recent drop in hard cheese prices. In the U.S., the prices for wholesale blue, gorgonzola, parmesan, and Romano decreased by $0.0075, but all other prices are unchanged from a week ago.
