There is a forty percent chance of rain on Thursday, October 8 with a possibility of isolated thunderstorms. It has not been determined how much of an effect Hurricane Delta may bring later in the week towards the weekend. Some shellers and buyers of yard tree lots are planning on opening up business next week when more varieties are picked up and graded before being offered on the market. Growers are busy in the orchards trying to get the pecans off the ground and trees shook before the weekend when rain is expected to come in from the Gulf areas due to Hurricane activities. A few more Pawnee are expected to come in along with Oconee, Moneymakers, Schley and Elliott varieties. The retail and gift pack businesses are fairly active seeking inventory and domestic buyers are just now getting in on the action after waiting to see how prices may unfold on the earlier offerings. Yard tree buyers are expected to be open next week for daily deliveries and purchases.
