Rain is expected for Thursday and for Monday and Tuesday of next week. Evenings will be cool in the mid-50s with a possible freeze on Sunday and back to the 40s by Monday and Tuesday. In the North areas of the state mid-50s and cooling fast to the 40s from Friday to Tuesday. Cold freezing evening and early morning temps on Thursday and the rest of the week with rain expected for Thursday. There was a little more action on the buying end this week as prices inched towards $3.00 per point. Growers are trying to finish up harvest for the year going into the orchards for a second time and to clean them up and prepare them for next year’s crop. Commercial buyers and shellers have increased interest and purchasing what they need to fill orders. Some growers have decided to keep their pecans stored until after the New Year waiting for the prices to adjust to their satisfaction hoping to have leverage with buyers as the total pounds available are much less than earlier estimated with a short crop this year and all the other producing states being short. Stuart Blends with a 51-52% meat yield sold in a range of about $2.78-2.90 per point. Desirable Blends with 50% meat yield or better sold in a range of about $2.80-2.90 per point. Other Blends sold with 44-45% meat yield $2.45-2.50, 46-48% meat yield $2.70, 54% meat yield $3.00 per point.
