MD_DA830 Cheese - Midwestern U.S. Report 32 - Released on August 05, 2020 In the midst of market price declines, some Midwestern cheesemakers remain busy producing cheese. In fact, some have said that market prices, currently in a downward spiral, may prompt some buyers to return. That said, other contacts question whether demand will return as strongly, as some food service customers have refilled their pipelines, while questions remain about school and restaurant demands during the current state of the country related to COVID-19. All said, though, current demand remains steady. Milk is widely available regionally, as farm milk production is steady to stronger and milk is being dispersed amid multiple plant disruptions/closures. Regional cheese availability is mostly committed. Midwestern wholesale prices are unchanged for Swiss cuts, down $.0675 for process, and down $.2575 for all other types.
