MD_DA830 Cheese - Midwestern U.S. Report 30 - Released on July 28, 2021 Although market tones on both block and barrel cheeses have exhibited some weakness, Midwestern cheese producers say sales are still generally healthy. Italian style cheesemakers say sales remain robust. Some cheddar makers reported generally steady/healthy sales figures, but say some customers have grown a little more hesitant as market prices soften. Milk availability, after showing signs of increased prices last week, have slipped back into the $5 under realm more normally this week. A number of cheesemaker contacts say they are running flush with their internally sourced milk supplies. Cheese inventories are not burdensome, according to Midwestern producers. Midwestern wholesale prices are unchanged for Swiss cuts, but down $.1675 for barrels and $.1275 for all other types.
