Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 01/28/2018
Receipts: 1553 Last Week: 4564 Year Ago: 6692
Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers steady to 3.00
higher; instances to 5.00 higher on 400-500 lbs heifers. Good to very
good demand, best demand on steers and heifers under 600 lbs. Winter
storm moved through the area causing many consigners to not bring cattle
to the sale. Plenty of buyers on the seats actively bidding on this
reduced offering. Flesh ranged from light to moderate. Higher values on
Live and Feeder Cattle contracts helped to support the market. Slaughter
cows 7.00 to 12.00 higher except Breaker cows 2.00 higher. Bulls not
well tested, higher undertones evident compared to Wednesday. 61 percent
feeder cattle were over 600 lbs. 53 percent of feeders were steers; 47
percent heifers. Feeder cattle made up 97 percent of the run, balance
slaughter cows and bulls.
