TO_LS765 Kearney, NE Fri Aug 14, 2020 USDA-NE Dept of Ag Market News Wyoming and Nebraska Direct Feeder Cattle Summary Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 08/14/2020 Receipts: 954 Week Ago: 1,515 Year Ago: None Not enough comparable offerings for a market trend. Demand was good for yearlings coming off of grass. A lot of feedlots would rather feed a yearling than a calf and hence why this market might have jumped a few bucks in recent weeks. Many say we are getting short on feeders out on grass so the buyers are in the gathering mode. Nobody wants to be left out on filling a pen or pens of top quality, grass grown yearlings. Feedlot trade has been slow all week as managers have dug their heels in and are priced several dollars higher than last week’s cash market. So, far in Nebraska, a few live sales have traded from 105.00-107.00 and dressed sales from 165.00-170.00. Direct prices are current FOB with a 2-3 percent shrink or equivalent, with a 10-12 cent slide on calves and 6-8 cent slide on feeders from base weight. Delivered prices include freight, commissions and other expenses. All offerings weighed over 600 lbs with 100 percent of the receipts being steers.
