TO_LS765 Kearney, NE Fri May 15, 2020 USDA-NE Dept of Ag Market News Wyoming and Nebraska Direct Feeder Cattle Summary Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 05/15/2020 Receipts: 1393 Week Ago: 906 Year Ago: 330 No comparable offerings from last week for a market test. Demand was good with most of the reported sales this week coming from backgrounding lots. Cooler than normal temperatures and a couple of freezes has kept early spring grass and alfalfa growing at a snail’s pace at best. Next week the temps are expected to be more seasonal and summer grass should grow in leaps and bounds, especially if a nice spring shower comes along. Feedlot sales sold sharply higher on the week with dressed sales 20.00-30.00 higher at 170.00-180.00. Live sales sold 15.00 higher at 110.00. Direct prices are current FOB with a 2-3 percent shrink or equivalent, with a 10-12 cent slide on calves and 6-8 cent slide on feeders from base weight. Delivered prices include freight, commissions and other expenses. Offering included near 73 percent heifers and all over 600 lbs.
