March 1 Hop Stocks Down 6 Percent From Last Year The inventory of hops held by growers, dealers, and brewers on March 1, 2008 totaled 66.0 million pounds, 6 percent less than March 1, 2007 and 4 percent less than March 1, 2006. March hop stocks have not been this low since March 1, 2000 when holdings were 64.5 million pounds. Stocks held by brewers, at 36.0 million pounds, were down 14 percent from a year ago and 8 percent less than March 1, 2006. Stocks held by growers and dealers on March 1, 2008 totaled 30.0 million pounds, 7 percent more than March 1, 2007 but unchanged from March 1, 2006.
