MD_DA137 Whole Milk Powder - South America Report 31 - Released on August 01, 2019 Whole milk powder prices held steady at the bottom of the price range, but moved higher at the top. Manufacturers are currently making more WMP relative to other products. Tighter than expected milk supplies are prompting a few processors to compete for available raw milk and pay higher farmgate prices. In an effort to recoup a portion of the higher costs of production, some manufacturers are trying to push up market prices for WMP. While this has worked with a few customers that are short on product, other buyers have become less interested with the price increases. Added to the challenge, a few competitive processors have kept prices lower to generate more active sales and maintain cash flows. Whole milk powder demand is still modest, but becoming slightly more active. Inventories are mixed. Stocks at some locations are tight, and at other places they are slowly building.
