     Cheese - Northeastern U.S.

     Report 51 - Released on December 19, 2018

     Cheese makers are receiving more milk this week, as bottlers have decreased their milk
     orders. A few operations are running full up until the holiday. Some plants will be shut
     down, but they will restart the following day. Cheese production is fairly strong in the
     East currently. Inventories are steady to increasing due to more milk available in the
     region. Retail demand is fairly stable. Moreover, grocers are actively promoting holiday
     advertisements. Trading activity is steady to lower as many market participants' needs are
     met for the end of the year. In the Northeast, wholesale cheese prices for cheddar and
     Muenster shifted up by $0.0075, moreover process cheese prices moved up by $0.0075. The
     Grade A Swiss price is unchanged this week.
