     Organic Dairy Retail Overview

     Report 48 - Released on November 30, 2018

     This post-holiday week shows a noteworthy percentage increase in total organic retail
     advertisements, up 432 percent across the country, compared to last week. Organic milk ads,
     half gallon packaging, drove the upsurge, nearly 27 times the number of ads than the
     previous survey.

     Meanwhile, price data show notable price fluctuations for organic milk as half gallon
     package price increased $1.39, up 46%, but gallon container price declined, $1.93, down 25
     percent. The organic price premium over conventional half gallon bottled milk is $2.20.

     Organic retail outlets posted advertisements for only 4 organic dairy items this week, milk,
     butter, cottage cheese, and yogurt. Organic milk, as a percentage of total ads by commodity
     grew to 71 percent, followed by organic yogurt at 14 percent.

     Advertising information presented is compiled from nearly 23,000 surveyed newspaper
     supermarket ads. Prices are valid from November 16-22, 2018. Retail survey ads reflect
     ³advertised specials´ and not the range of non-advertised supermarket cooler prices.
